Thoughts – “Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.” – Fred Rogers
“Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.” – Desmond Tutu
“Everything that happens to you is a lesson. Everyone you meet is a teacher. There are no exceptions and it happens all your lifetime.” – Unknown
Song – Lauren Daigle – Rescue – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYR0xP1j4PY
This is a lovely song, I appreciate the sentiments of rescuing…but the sad reality for most of us hurt in life as children, we are not rescued, society turns a blind eye. The rescued are the exception, not the rule…hopefully someday that will change.
I am grateful for all of those who are working hard to change the paradigm.
Thank you & take care, Michael Skinner
Book – Family Rifts and Estrangement Threaten Mental and Physical Health – The New York Times –

“Unresolved rifts can precipitate chronic stress in one or both participants that undermines their emotional and physical health. The resulting anxiety or depression can worsen heart disease and diabetes, cause reproductive problems, undermine immunity and even shorten the person’s life, studies have suggested.
On the other hand, rifts can sometimes be health-saving for the person who precipitates them. For example, people may cut a relative out of their lives who is physically or emotionally abusive or engages in criminal activities or other antisocial behaviors they find threatening or abhorrent.”
