How You Can Help – Healing Childhood Trauma in Adulthood

June 12, 2022 by Michael Skinner

Hi Folks,

My latest sharing – I read my chapter from the book, “You Can Help – A Guide for Family & Friends of Survivors of Sexual Abuse and Assault” by Rebecca Street. Honored to be a part of this book along with the other 19 survivor/thriver contributors.

I also share some words from Rythea Lee’s book – “Trauma into Truth – Gutsy Healing and Why It’s Worth It” – The healing thoughts and wisdom from both books are applicable to all survivors of trauma and abuse.

How You Can Help – Healing Childhood Trauma in Adulthood –

Truth be told, this ‘stuff’ is still gut-wrenching for me…but we need to end the cycle of inter-generational trauma and abuse.

Thank you & take care, Michael Skinner.

“There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.” –

“MY BACK DOOR” © Michael Skinner/Kim Labbe

Meet me at the back door, it’s always open for a friend

Let us not waste our time let us not pretend

The front door is only a facade, a mask of formality and pride

Insecure and formidable, it’s contents meant to hide

Meant to hide, meant to hide

The true inner chambers of what resides within

So meet me at the back door, from there I’ll let you in

Out back there are no pretenses, genuine, authentic to the core

Soft, warm, and gentle, please believe me

There is more there is more, there is more, there is more

The back door is the entrance to whom, we really are

I’m waiting for you inside, and I’ll leave the door ajar

So meet me at the back door let us not play games

I’ll greet you as I am, and I will not

Not hide in shame not hide in shame, not hide in shame, not hide in shame

My door for you is open, my heart has room within

My door for you is open my heart has room within

So meet me at the back door and I will let you in

Meet me at the back door and I will

Let you in, I will let you in, I will let you in, I will let you in
